Letšeng Diamonds, as part of its CRSI initiatives, has officially handed over sanitation and water projects to the communities of Ha-Moroke, Ha-Seema, Maloraneng Health Post, and Maloraneng Lodge. The handover ceremony took place on March 21, 2024, at Maloraneng Lodge in Mokhotlong.
The projects included construction of 75 toilets and 6 community taps, benefiting the villages mentioned above. The local communities contributed by providing labour for the construction works, and the total cost of these projects amounted to M1.7 million.
The facilities provided are expected to have a considerable impact to improve the quality of, and access to, potable water used by the respective communities, as well as reducing the potentially negative impacts of water contamination which may occur in the absence of proper sanitation facilities.
The event was attended by Letšeng Diamonds Management, the District Administrator of Mokhotlong, Mokhotlong District Council Secretary, representatives from the Department of Water-Rural Water Supply, Community Chiefs and Councillors, members of the media, and the Pae-la-Itlhatsoa community.
